About The Children Of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund

The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that was founded October 23, 2003 by Rebecca Campbell and is based in the D.C. Metropolitan area. (the CFSRF incorporated in 2006 thus our fein changed to 20-4526203 and the letter of determination from the IRS from 2003 under the previous fein is no longer applicable)

After the attacks on our nation her youngest son enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg, N.C. Her nephew was already serving in the USMC and was deployed to Afghanistan as well as other close friends. In February 2003 her son was deployed to Baghdad and later that year with the help of family and friends she organized a fundraiser to help children affected by the loss of a parent. The idea was to help one or two children who had lost their parent(s) overseas during his or her deployment with college assistance. The first fundraiser was held two weeks later and was a big success! She simply cannot stop and with the help of volunteers and the public we continue with our mission of support. Her son, nephew and other close friends did come home, however, others have not and with the continual support from the public the dream to help our families in need is becoming a reality.

Our Mission:

The CFSRF was founded in order to provide support to surviving U.S. Military children and spouses that have lost a loved one in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars or whose service member has sustained a serious disability.

Our objectives are to help U.S. Military children and spouses with College Grants as well as provide financial assistance to those families in need of help with housing, utilities, food and clothing. Often, when a loss occurs in these families what was a two person income becomes one. The financial hardships placed on these families are very difficult to deal with. Their lives are devastated and forever changed.

We are determined to help make the last wishes of those lost to the casualty of war possible by assisting their families with their needs. However, we can only do this through the help of others.

Our dream is to make a difference in the lives of the families that have given up their future and companionship of their loved ones. We honor the fallen by providing a "gift" to their families as a token of our appreciation. We can never replace the love and warmth that is forever gone, but with your help we can all honor our fallen.

None of the Board, Committee or Trustee members have been affected personally by the loss of a service member. We are simply individuals that hold a tremendous amount of respect for our service men and women both of present and of past!

Those involved in our organization are not affiliated with any corporate, governmental, celebrity or otherwise known groups, we are simply an enthusiastic group of family, friends and businesses who chose to "never forget" the sacrifices made by others for us!

Many grandparents, great-grandparents, mothers, fathers, daughters and sons just coming together in support of our troops and their loved ones.

If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering for the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund, Inc. please feel free to contact us. Event Coordinators that can help support others and represent the CFSRF during fundraising events should email us at: events@cfsrf.org.

A special message to my son:

So brave you are, so strong and so proud
My freedom fighter where are you now?
Amongst the land so far away
Your shoulders pulled back as you fight your way
Into the sand, no light to see
I pray that you will always be
Close to the one that protects us from fear
As I count on him to bring you near
And of the ones that protest those rights
To live our lives you fight with all might
Just so they can wake up each day
In our land that you've made this way
Their tears don't flow, their hearts torn in half
But, because of my son they still can laugh
Who has given them rights to all end
You and your comrades who'll fight at each bend
The things you'll see, the fear you'll bear
While all that love you cry many a tear
Who can you count on when you come home?
I will not leave you, you are never alone
As I cry for you each night
I wish you blessed paths so bright
If only others could see what it means
To have a son like you are to me
Not knowing just where or how safe you are now
The tears they won't stop I just don't know how
To keep you close with me ever in my thoughts
I am so fearful that I'll lose you for naught.
A Proud 82nd Mom ~ April 2003
